Heidi Schrock-Weissburgunder-Rust, Neusiedlersee/Huggeland, Burgenland-2013

Heidi Schrock
Rust, Neusiedlersee/Huggeland, Burgenland

Rust is the town. Burgenland is the region, just south of Vienna. Heidi Schrock has been making delicious, distinctive, uniqe wines for decades. This is PINOT BLANC fermented in tank then aged on its lees in huge, upright, neutral barrel. Smell & taste a barrel of fresh apples, apricots, Meyer lemon, fresh pears, wildflowers and a smidge of pie crust. Good alternative to a crisp, fresh Chardonnay.

“Shows a fetching aroma, leesy, acacia, langoustines, the sexiest Pinot Blanc from Heidi in several years; and yet it’s a complex being with buzzing limestony mineral and super-pretty fruit, a kind of apple-cellar ‘sweetness.’ Please don’t drink it too cold.” Terry Theise
