All “Frediani Vineyard” fruit (Calistoga on the Silverado Trail). Owned/made by winemaking veteran Fernando Candelario. Potent, deep, very rich and very smooth. Dark berry/cherry, more liqueur than jam texture. Sweet spices, juicy, judiciously oaked (noticeable but not overbearing). 300 cases made.
From May 12, 2016 Newsletter:
Owner/maker Fernando Candelario was assistant winemaker at T-Vine in the 90s/2000s. I knew those "old" T-Vine wines intimately: beautiful deep berry fruit, spice, cashmere texture. It means something, then, when Fernando says, "I made this wine the same way I helped make T-Vine Zinfandels 10 years ago. It's just like the old T-Vines." I tasted them with Fernando and whole-heartedly agree.
Like T-Vine then and now, Voces buys from "Frediani Vineyard" (Calistoga-Silverado Trail). These 80 year old vines make for a deep, dark fruit-driven, rich, very smooth Zin. The dark berry/cherry flavors are more liqueur than jam flavored. Then cinnamon, allspice, anise and toasty oak. The oak is an important component of the wine, but not overbearing. Notice this is a 2012: ripe vintage that now has has time to evolve. Drinking at its best now. Highly recommended. 300 cases made.
