"Kirschenmann Vineyard" is a 100 year old, head-trained, dry-farmed, organic vineyard in Lodi, at the edge of the Sacramento Delta. 7 day cold soak before fermentation. 4 barrels made: 1 of them new. Boasts soft & silky tannins, sweet spice (cinnamon/nutmeg), cherry compote, velvety mouthfeel.
Let's play connect-the-winemaker-dots. Tegan Pasalaqua, Turley Cellars winemaker and a leader in Napa's next-generation winemakers, bought the 100-year-old organic, dry-farmed "Kirschenmann vineyard" a few years ago. He sells some of the grapes to Jon Grant, former colleague at Turley (Other buyers of the grapes are Bedrock, Arnot Roberts, Carlisle and Turley) Jon makes Zinfandel from these grapes under his Straight Line label.
A uniquely cool micro-climate for Lodi, "Kirschenmann" Zins are known to have more grace than most from this region.
