Pinot Noir
"Garys' Vineyard" Santa Lucia Highlands
2014

$60.00 Net

One of the Santa Lucia Highlands’ great vineyards, and best wines, every vintage. Cool coastal climate, loads of sun (after foggy morning). Strong wine! “Black raspberries, black cherry, crushed flowers, earthy notes. Shows a core of sweet fruit that's the hallmark of this appellation. Fine yet present tannin, good acidity and tons of classic Garys' minerality on the finish.” The Wine Advocate

Garys' Vineyard is named for grape-growing partners Gary Pisoni and Gary Franscioni. Both come from multi-generational farming families in the Salinas Valley. Located in the heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands on sandy loam soil, the 50-acre vineyard is planted mostly to Pinot Noir with a small section of Syrah. Given the proximity to Monterey Bay, fog blankets the Garys' Vineyard in the summer months, providing for a cool, slow-ripening season.

"The 2014 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is a classic effort from this impeccably run estate. Black raspberries, black cherry, crushed flowers, earthy notes and even a hint of truffle all emerge from this beautifully proportioned, layered, medium-bodied and silky textured beauty. Showing the core of sweet fruit that's the hallmark of this appellation, it has fine, yet present tannin, good acidity and more and more of the classic Garys' vineyard minerality showing on the finish. Drink this stunning Pinot Noir through 2024." Jeb Dunnuck for The Wine Advocate, September 2016
