Clos Saint Jean-Chateauneuf du Pape-"Vieilles Vignes"-2012

Clos Saint Jean
"Vieilles Vignes"

75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, then Mourvedre, Cinsault and others. 50-100 year old vines. Ripe, rich, heady red (16% alcohol). Get kirsch, black licorice, rosemary, Marasca cherries, cracked black peppercorns, dark chocolate.
A “party in the mouth,” this drinks like a Big Flavor California red.  Enjoy with braised beef short ribs and steaks on the grill.

Dunnuck for TWA: "Beautiful 'Provencal' effort…gives up loads of black licorice, savory spice, leather and sweet black cherry aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and approachable, it still has the structure and concentration to evolve for 10-15 years."
