Merriam Vineyards-Cabernet Sauvignon-"Gloeckner-Turner Ranch" Rockpile-2010

Merriam Vineyards
Cabernet Sauvignon
"Gloeckner-Turner Ranch" Rockpile

1200 feet above Lake Sonoma is the “Gloeckner Turner Ranch.” Struggling vines, low yields, lots of sunshine make for fruit-driven, hearty, age-worthy Cabernet. Get cassis, sweet dark raspberries, milk chocolate, vanilla, musk, pomegranate. Nice acidity brightens up the big fruit. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 227 cases made.
Robert Parker, December 2013: "The opaque purple-colored 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Gloeckner-Turner Ranch from Rockpile (nearly 15% natural alcohol) reveals gorgeous creme de cassis fruit intermixed with a note of licorice. From a high elevation site 1,300 feet above Lake Sonoma, it was aged 24 months in French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. This big, mountain-styled Cabernet Sauvignon possesses ripe tannin and superb richness and extract. Young and grapy, it’s bursting with potential, and should be another Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon that will rank alongside some of the finest in Napa in 10-20 years."
