Paolo Bea-Sagrantino di Montefalco-"Pagliaro"-2007

Paolo Bea
Sagrantino di Montefalco

One of the great wines of Italy and the world. “Pagliaro” is the vineyard in the hills of Montefalco, Umbria. Clay-based soils make for a deep, rich wine. Aged first in tank, then in “neutral” barrel. 2007: great vintage, offering warmth and concentration. Wonderful drinking now: cocoa, pipe tobacco, ripe & dark raspberries and boysenberries, dried figs, dry-aged beef. Treat yourself… roast leg of lamb with rosemary polenta a splendid food match.
