Xavier Gerard-Condrieu-"La Cote Chatillon"-2014

Xavier Gerard
"La Cote Chatillon"

Enjoyed one winter night at Napa’s Morimoto with sushi and sashimi. A joyous match. Pure, vibrant, honeysuckle and fresh peach Viognier with the “minerality” that the granite slopes of Condrieu offers. Meyer lemons, honey drizzles, Macintosh apples, sliced white peaches, crushed rocks. Best match was the fatty tuna, by the way.

“Vibrant, mineral-laced aromas of nectarine, pear skin, melon and orange show an intense floral overtone. Juicy, focused and palate-staining, displaying a suave interplay of power and vivacity in the fresh citrus and orchard fruit flavors. Racy and focused on the chewy finish, which hangs on with excellent, mineral-driven persistence.” Josh Raynolds for Vinous. March 2016
