"Los Olivos Vineyard" Napa Valley
Maldonado family's "Los Olivos Vineyard" lies at the southern end of Napa Valley. Buttered toast flavors (100% ML, barrel ferment and aged) are balanced by ripe lemon, fig, apple/pear, roast hazelnut and tarte tatin yumminess. Great choice for fans of full-bodied Chardonnays with great fruit and a lot of character.
From our November 4 "Thanksgiving Trio" Newsletter:
This is a family-run winery with a vineyard near the southern end of the Valley, just east of Carneros, and equally cool. It's a great spot for Chardonnay.
This full-flavored Chardonnay is an ideal match for the generous butter used for a traditional Thanksgiving feast. The wine is 100% ML, barrel fermented and aged on its lees with no stirring.) The result is Chardonnay with body, richness and nuance. Smell and taste buttered wheat toast, lemon custard, green figs, apple and pear compote, roast hazelnuts and tarte tatin (caramelized apple tart). Again, this is the way to match LIKE with LIKE at the Thanksgiving table. And, to be subjective, our most preferred wine to drink at the big meal.
