Robert Weil-Riesling-Kiedrich "Grafenberg"-Auslese-RHEINGAU-375ml-2006

Robert Weil
Kiedrich Grafenberg, Auslese, RHEINGAU

“Grafenberg” is a 60% grade vineyard (that’s STEEP!) made of fine sedimentary soil + clay loam. Medium/light amount of botrytis. Pineapple, apricots, lemons, honey, grapefruit…classic and wonderful late harvest Riesling. Creamy mouthfeel. I want liver paté and sautéed apples on crostini with this.

David Schildknecht for The Wine Advocate, October 2008: "Malt and caramel accompany its honey, peach, pineapple, and papaya. Enormously dense, rich, and creamy in texture yet shot through with fresh citrus character, generating a bit of a sweet-sour tug of war for now, which is probably beneficial for ageing,  which in this case ought to mean 15-20 years."
