Francois Cotat-Sancerre-"Les Monts Damnes"-2011

Francois Cotat
"Les Monts Damnes"

These “damned mountains” are so named for their steepness and difficulty to farm. It’s a very chalky vineyard. Smell sea spray, lime zest, Serrano pepper, lemongrass. Taste white peaches, melons, grapefruit, white soil. Finish: white pepper, flowers, quince. Nice balance of ripeness and acidity.

“Scents and flavors of coriander, cardamom, caraway and sage are allied to succulent Persian melon and lightly cooked apple. Faint suggestion of sweetness (a function of the alcohol and fruit personality). Finishes with impressive persistence.”  Schildknecht,  The Wine Advocate, June 2012
