Chapelle St. Theodoric-Chateauneuf du Pape-"La Guigasse"-2012

Chapelle St. Theodoric
"La Guigasse"

100% Grenache, 50-100 year old vines growing in pure sand. Whole cluster ferment, indigenous yeast, aged in neutral barrel (very traditional winemaking). This “CdP” showcases the spice and sweet earthy qualities of the Grenache grape and the appellation. Smell & taste sassafras, roast wild herbs, kirsch, strawberry compote, cocoa, black pepper. Quite firm first-opened, it blossoms and smooths out with an hour (or two) decant.

“Boasts fabulous Grenache fruit, spice, garrigue and dried-earth-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, ripe and textured, it builds beautifully on the palate with fine tannin, excellent mid-palate depth and terrific length.” Jeb Dunnuck for The Wine Advocate, October 2014

Did you know...The CHAPEL of St. Theodoric is believed to be the oldest standing structure in Châteauneuf.
