Schwarzbock-Zweigelt-"vom Bisamberg" Weinviertel-2013

"vom Bisamberg" Weinviertel

ZWEIGELT: the most widely planted red grape in Austria. It makes a red berry driven, spicy, slightly “meaty” Bistro wine in the best of ways. This is from the outskirts of Vienna. Grapes grown on Bisamberg hill, looking over Vienna. Get pomegranate, sweet plums, blueberries, licorice, beef jerky. Bright acid, fine tannins, no oak.

"Feints toward Blaufränkisch; hedge-berry more than tree fruit—at first. Then a riot of cerise in the middle, and the finish is a swoon of sweet cherry. For a mid-weight wine (think Cru Beaujolais) this  has all kinds of length and seductiveness." Terry Theise
