Didier Dagueneau-Blanc Fume de Pouilly-2014

Didier Dagueneau
Blanc Fume de Pouilly

Dagueneau’s “entry level” Pouilly. Very low-yielding vines growing in flint, sand and clay. Tank ferment, aged in neutral, very large barrels. Some lees-stirring.  Tasted 3/16/17: The perfectly cool vintage lends itself well to the style. Smell and taste fresh citrus, Granny Smith apples, grapefruit, chalk, quince. Finish has a pronounced nutty/pie crust quality from the lees contact.

A note on the label.  The music was composed by Francois Cristin, a musician friend of Didier's.  It is written for trumpet (b flat major) and french horn (f major).  The first line is the theme, which is taken from a famous song by Georges Brassens, and the next four lines are Cristin's personal interpretation of that theme.
