Kirchspiel "R.R." Rheinhessen
Sourced from a one acre plot of Keller’s Estate vineyard planted on iron-heavy, red limestone soil.
It’s allowed to ferment until it stops. In this 2013, we’re talking about 13 G/L (just above threshold). Creamy texture, glorious acidity, apple butter, passionfruit, lemongrass. Every German Riesling aficionado must buy a bottle!
“…The “R.R.” bottling is a selection from the Kirchspiel vineyard that is planted on red soils, similar to the terres
rouges to be found in Bonnes-Mares. The remainder of the vineyard of Kirchspiel is yellow limestone. This is the
warmest section of the vineyard, and the grapes here always get the ripest of all of the Keller holdings."
"RR" = Really Rare, even higher quality than "R," with much smaller lots. This abbreviation is not particular to Keller, other German producers use it. This designation is not regulated by the VDP, entirely up to the winery.
