Cheese Board

We always carry around ten different cheeses. We mostly use them for cheese plates at our tasting events. Our customers "in the know" like to buy cheese from us to go. Check out our current selections.

Food Is Fun!

Here are our favorite, just-discovered recipes, links to foodie websites, restaurant recommendations, thoughts on dishes and food "experiences." It's fun, free-form, and our way to remember that wine is meant to go with food. You, reader, are most welcome to contribute to our "Food Is Fun" page.

Perfect Pairings

Customers walk into the store all the time asking for a wine recommendation to pair with a particular food or dish. "I'm going to someone's house, and they're making duck, but I don't know how they're doing it." We often hear, "I'm making leg of lamb, but I haven't decided how yet. Can you suggest a wine that'll be good with lamb and will help me decide how to cook it?" We get all sorts of requests, and we LOVE THEM ALL!

Pairing with food is the essence of wine. We, like many merchants, get caught up in what's best, what's hot, what sells, food be damned. Every time you bring us back to the heart (or stomach) of the matter, we gladly go there, and hopefully help you select a great wine to go with your meal.

"Perfect Pairings" is a dual customer/merchant journal of Back Room wines you buy because you asked for a recommendation to go with dinner. Each entry starts with the request (the food, preferred wine region if any, budget). Then you'll see the wine our customer purchased, and our thinking in suggesting this wine. Finally, you'll see that customer's feedback on the wine after imbibement...if we haven't received feedback, then this final part is left blank of course.

If you live too far from Back Room Wines to come in, you can still play! Ask for a wine recommendation to go with food (maybe amongst other wines you're buying from us) and we'll put it in "Perfect Pairings." We'll email you a very simple form in which you can send us your thoughts on our wine suggestions, and we'll post them, whether our recommendation is good or not.
